What we do during long breaks…

January 13, 2012

My friends and I have the same TF breaks. 11:10-4:20 baby!! :) So that means…. :))

That’s what you get with cheerleaders in a skating rink -_____-

I currently have 11 posts in my draft. Somehow I still can’t find the strength to click ‘create post’. Like I said in my previous blog post, somehow I feel like they’re incomplete. I might post everything on wednesday when I’m a little bit free. My schedule has been crazy. Even my Sundays have been taken. Hoping for a school-free weekend soon! So I changed my url again…. :)) Now, I think this is it. HAHA. I found eunice wonders a bit too… 3rd person-ish :| (LABO).. so YOWNICE it is! A funny play on my name.

Anyhoooo… Just wanted to write a bit… My mind is super soupy right now.. So yeah.. Goooood Riddance! :) Night night!

January so far :-)

January so far has been pretty normal. GOOD normal :)

Just going with the flow that is life =)) Focusing on school work and spending quality time with friends plus org and usg work.

I’ve been hesitating on posting stuff here because I’m still waiting for my graphic artist to finish my blog layout and I wanted everything to be organized. *excuse the run-on sentence* I have so much piled up on my Iphoto! Excited to post everything here! :)

January, goodbye! You have been awesome :)

But today it’s technicolor!

Hey guys! I’ve been mia lately. I’ve been really busy with school and temple run (hehe). I have a lot of posts in my drafts now but somehow I feel like something’s lacking in each post so I constantly need to review, add and remove stuff then edit to make sure I don’t miss anything out. Maybe I’ll do it over the weekend.

Currently my page is under construction. I’m still working around the html design of this page. God I hate anything that needs encoding -_____- oh well. No pain no gain =)).

Anyways, I just wanted to create a quick post about this product I bought earlier today :) While I was strolling around MOA (SM Mall of Asia), I came across this korean trinkets store. While browsing I came across this really cute small box which actually contain several colored plates inside. Little did I know that it was filters for your camera (ANY CAMERA)! Being a fan of artsy fartsy photos, I quickly purchased one for me to expand my artistic horizon… whut =)) basically, just create better looking photos :)

btw! :) the background I used for this photo is some old wrapping paper from a japanese store somewhere in Makati :)) Camera used: Lumix GF1

Will be using these bad boys excessively from now on :) Basically you can choose to cover your lens or flash with it (both have different effects) like….

Photo from Amazon

I’ll talk more about this in my future posts since it’s way past my bedtime! HAHA! Gooooodnight! :)

Looooove, Eunice!

Regrets

While browsing the net I came across this particular article about the top regrets people realize on their deathbed. Although depressing, I think that everyone should realize that every step we take into this world to further better our lives in a palpable aspect is merely something to get us by. We should grasp the fact that one day we will expire, so we need to ask ourselves what choices do we need to make to abate these regrets.

For many years I worked in palliative care. My patients were those who had gone home to die. Some incredibly special times were shared. I was with them for the last three to twelve weeks of their lives. People grow a lot when they are faced with their own mortality.

I learnt never to underestimate someone’s capacity for growth. Some changes were phenomenal. Each experienced a variety of emotions, as expected, denial, fear, anger, remorse, more denial and eventually acceptance. Every single patient found their peace before they departed though, every one of them.

When questioned about any regrets they had or anything they would do differently, common themes surfaced again and again. Here are the most common five:

1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
This was the most common regret of all. When people realize that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people had not honoured even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made.

It is very important to try and honour at least some of your dreams along the way. From the moment that you lose your health, it is too late. Health brings a freedom very few realise, until they no longer have it.

2. I wish I didn’t work so hard.
This came from every male patient that I nursed. They missed their children’s youth and their partner’s companionship. Women also spoke of this regret. But as most were from an older generation, many of the female patients had not been breadwinners. All of the men I nursed deeply regretted spending so much of their lives on the treadmill of a work existence.

By simplifying your lifestyle and making conscious choices along the way, it is possible to not need the income that you think you do. And by creating more space in your life, you become happier and more open to new opportunities, ones more suited to your new lifestyle.

3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.
Many people suppressed their feelings in order to keep peace with others. As a result, they settled for a mediocre existence and never
became who they were truly capable of becoming. Many developed illnesses relating to the bitterness and resentment they carried as a
result.

We cannot control the reactions of others. However, although people may initially react when you change the way you are by speaking honestly, in the end it raises the relationship to a whole new and healthier level. Either that or it releases the unhealthy relationship from your life. Either way, you win.

4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
Often they would not truly realise the full benefits of old friends until their dying weeks and it was not always possible to track them down. Many had become so caught up in their own lives that they had let golden friendships slip by over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved. Everyone misses their friends when they are dying.

It is common for anyone in a busy lifestyle to let friendships slip. But when you are faced with your approaching death, the physical
details of life fall away. People do want to get their financial affairs in order if possible. But it is not money or status that holds the true importance for them. They want to get things in order more for the benefit of those they love. Usually though, they are too ill and weary to ever manage this task. It is all comes down to love and relationships in the end.
That is all that remains in the final weeks, love and relationships.

5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.
This is a surprisingly common one. Many did not realise until the end that happiness is a choice. They had stayed stuck in old patterns and habits. The so-called ‘comfort’ of familiarity overflowed into their emotions, as well as their physical lives. Fear of change had them pretending to others, and to their selves, that they were content. When deep within, they longed to laugh properly and have silliness in their life again. When you are on your deathbed, what  others think of you is a long way from your mind. How wonderful to be able to let go and smile again, long before you are dying.

Life is a choice. It is YOUR life. Choose consciously, choose wisely, choose honestly. Choose happiness.”

One week into 2012, I only wonder about this question.

One week into 2012, I only wonder about this question.

Bring it on 2012

For all that we’ve lost, gained, and cherished.

For all that we’ve fought for.

For all that we’ve let go and let slip away.

For all the could-have-beens.

For all the things that was.

For all the moments we felt so alive.

Here’s to 2011!

This photo was taken inside the Batu Caves in Kuala Lumpur. There is a mini-zoo situated inside the actual cave :)
It’s a bit blurry due to the length of the shutter speed but I still really appreciate this picture. It’s majestic how God made creatures as beautiful as this one. We see the bad and yet we fail to recognize how delicate these creatures are :)
P.S. All my photos are taken either by my Canon 600D, Canon 350D, Lumix DMC-LX5 or Instax Mini 7s. I also use a variety of lenses when I use my slrs :) I’m starting to gather interest on Film Photography so maybe I will be able to add beautiful film cameras in the future. I’ll indicate what camera I used from now on for reference :) If you guys want me to post the lens and settings I used just drop me a message :)
For this particular picture, I used my Canon 600D with kit lens. 18-55mm
